Visiting from America? There's a little infatuation many Americans have with Europe. Why is this? Well some of it may have to do with ancestry and familiar heritage. Nearly 60% of the United States population self-reported having European ancestry according to the 2020 census. A unique thing about Americans is that we don't generally identify as "just" Americans. Ask someone from the United States, "What are you, where are you from?", and you're likely to get an unexpected laundry list of places as an answer, "Oh, Irish, French, and German!". Wait, American isn't even on that list! Well, the "melting pot" narrative truly lives on in many American minds and does not seem to be going away anytime soon. With this deep-rooted ancestrial pride, Europe is a great place for Americans to visit and learn a little bit more about potential long-lost relatives.
